Orangutan Tango
deep in the forest
when no one's around
where nothing is moving
and there isn't a sound
up in the treetops
up high in the air
apes will be meeting
we're gathering there
I've never been one to miss an orangutan tango
I've never been one to lose my chance to swing
soon we'll be hanging from a limb
with our teeth bared in permanent grins
been waiting awhile
waiting all season
for getting together
just needed a reason
been living real well
living quite fatly
just slightly missing
my extended family
I've never been one to miss an orangutan tango
I've never been one to lose my chance to swing
I've never known my grip to fail
let the lesser primates keep their tails
well I remember
last time we were there
one little orange cutie
who was grooming my hair
fruit's always the best
such perfect bananas
I'll be smacking my lips
while chewing a mango
I've never been one to miss an orangutan tango
I've never been one to lose my chance to swing
soon we'll be leaping limb to limb
impressive display of primate daring
remembering too
our real clever scheme
how well it worked
how we laughed 'til we screamed
because when that bent tree
snapped back into place
one surprised monkey
went sailing through space
I've never been one to miss an orangutan tango
I've never been one to lose my chance to swing
see them stare at us great orange apes
down on the ground — their mouths agape
I've never been one to miss an orangutan tango
I've never been one to lose my chance to swing
won't you know we'll be dropping our feces
without a thought for those lower species
