Libertarians Unite!
I love YouTube.
YouTube represents the first time in human history we — as a species — can openly participate in the free exchange of ideas essential to sustaining democratic freedom. In the past, influential discussion was limited by time and place and socioeconomic status. The digital divide still applies, but YouTube approximates egalitarianism.
We are watching the messy and necessary clash of opposing moral values. In realtime.
On a global level.
I want to point out two video clips I find particularly moving and relevant as we enter the U.S. 2008 presidential election year, because these videos represent moral values seldom articulated in public. Moral values which need to be heard, need to be added to the debate.
I am grateful to these two articulate spokesmen who engender in me a sense of community. I share the earth with kindred spirits.
Few though we may be.
Ron Paul Courageously Speaks the Truth — I agree with his Libertarian positions: peace through non-interventionist foreign policy; protect our civil liberties by returning to a constitutional government; and allow economic prosperity by limiting the role of government.
Pimping for Jesus — Pat Condell unleashes his dry British humor on Christianity while providing context for the importance of the 2008 election. If you value political correctness, be forewarned. If you value separation of church and state, start here. I really couldn't have said it better myself.
